Phase One Alpha Groups - we're coming to getcha!

It's unbelivable how quickly time has gone by, as tomorrow Phase One comes to a close. In the morning all the Alpha groups will return to Fieldbase for Changeover One. Tonight over Comms the groups have told us how they're spending their final hours together ...

Charlie One were visited today by Mr R from CTRD who came to give them a talk and thank them for all their hard work. They then celebrated this afternoon with their local community who warmed their hearts with their gratefulness.

Echo Three had a goodbye party this afternoon with their local village at their campsite, where they offically declared the part of elephant proof solar powered fence they have erected open with a tape cutting ceremony.

Echo Four are delighted to have completed their last day of digging and will be relaxing tonight ahead of an early morning start.

Tango Five have already started their journey bck to Field base and have the luxury of spending tonight in a Hotel where they will feast in style!

Tango Six are celebrating tonight with their 'Tango Six Oscars' complete with black tie dress code and a candle lit dinner - swanky!

Field base - The calm before the storm ....
Here at Field base we've had a good old tidy up and will be tucking into a Roast dinner to relax tonight ahead of the craziness as everyone descends back to us over Changeover.

We wish them all a safe journey tomorrow and can't wait to welcome them back and hear all their tales of adventure, hard work and achievement.

    Hi Lies/Liz,

    Dikke Kus,
    Je zusje

    Charlie One - Aimee Welch

    Dear Aimee

I had a long chat with Grandma Welch this morning, and gave her instructions to pass on to Kate, Jon or Peter on how to access the blog. Hope she doesn't lose the bit of paper! Grandma is feeling much better because a switched- on locum has cut her pills from 15 to only 6 a day!!! Grandma and Grandpa send you their love of course.

Bet you are now super fit and very slender after all your hard work!

Lots of love from from the Durham Road Gang xxxxxxx

PS Did you know that David and Claire got married in the summer with only Ellie and Fiona there?!

  5. A little message for Amy Gannon...!

Hello love, I read your note and little blog message today and am replying! I hope this gets read out in front of everyone...! :) Sounds like you're having an amazing time, I hope sleeping in a hilarious tent and eating porridge all time hasn't lost ALL of it's shine yet! As much as it sounds brilliant, I hope from time to time, as yr glasses slide off yr sweaty nose, you think of me saying 'rather you than me!!'

I hope you're all good, and im thinking of you and hope it's not too hard with losing your Grandad in the middle of all this. Do you know how weird it is not being able to just pick up my phone and text you?!

Stay well Ganno, love you, Prong xxxxxx

My love I am so proud! 19 days trekking, the only way I could do that if there was a blooming massive cake at the end of it. or someone running after me yelling with a massive stick...even then i would probably just lie down and nap until it was all over....

January is definate, neither of you have a choice frankly. I'm sure kidnap is less frowned upon if its for holiday purposes.

All is fine and dandy here, customers are annoying as usual but in your honour today i will make it my mission to say to at least one of them that "I'm on it like a car bonnet" I'd quite like to see their reaction.....

see you soon for sushi and sunshine and raving in the street
    xxxxxxxxxxx

p.s im perfectly aware that others will be reading this message. sorry if they think you have insane friends but lets face it, you do :)

  10. To Sarah Ward (Tango Six)

Alright possum? Black Tie candlelit dinner? Jealous... So Hallowe'en/half-term was MENTAL. I dressed up as Dr. Horrible (Whedonverse obviously) and spent most of the night reglueing my ray-gun. Man that sounds sordid.

Nick and Em are 19 - still not really used to them being older than 13 so I usually spend their birthday in a state of utter bafflement anyway. To put everything into perspective - we were 19 when we met. Mind = Blown.

You look like you are having the most incredible time out there - I think I noticed some bike riding? They do know you haven't got your... you know... *coughcoughcyclingproficiencycough*... don't they?

Either way you look amazing - all brown and travelly and lovely. Can't wait to see you for real.

    More letters soon!

    Ganno!

Amy Gannon! Amy Gannon! Amy Gannon! Amy Ga-a-nonn! (to the tune of The A-Team- if someone is reading this out I sincerely hope you sang!)

It's SO good to see a few pics of you and to read your little note (only just noticed it today as have been busy moving house...again...bah!)

Looks like you're having an amazing experience and working really really hard! I hope it's everything you hoped it would be and more. I'm really sorry about your Grandad- I want to send lots of love your way and remind you how proud you are making us all (and a bit jealous- it's cold and I spent all day cleaning carpets with not an elephant in sight)!

Lots of love, keep up the good work!
