First Changeover – Skits and Phase 2 Allocations

After returning from their brief sightseeing/shopping trip to Mysore on Monday, the Venturers returned for an evening of dinner, catching up with their friends from the other teams and entertainment.

They also greeted our two new arrivals - Amber Elisa from Holland and Jennifer from the UK, who have just joined us for Phase 2 and 3. Welcome, both!

The entertainment took the form of skits by each team summing up their project in Phase 1. All four teams had clearly put much effort into preparation (several minutes or even more in some cases!) and the resulting skits were suitably hilarious.

Tango Six - Leeches on trek!
Echo 3 - basha life has all been such fun!
Charlie One - Village life set to music
They were judged by an incorruptible trio of judges – Simon, Ruth (aka ‘Yummy’ following a possibly misinterpreted comment on last week’s Radio Raleigh broadcast!) and David. The criteria were that they had to be funny, involve the whole team, use at least two languages and sum up the trek.

The winner was .... Tango Five.

Tango Five - portraying rowing on trek, ...
... Showing what living in a cramped shelter is like,...
...And finishing with gusto
They were rewarded with chocolate biscuits presented by Ruth.

'Yummy' and yummies for the winners
Yesterday (Tuesday) morning brought the news everyone was waiting for – the new team and project allocations for Phase 2.

The PMs - also rearranged from Phase 1 - used a variety a ways of ‘attracting’ their new team members – from including their names in poems to making everyone close their eyes and relax while the ‘chosen ones’ were gently tapped on the back!

Charlie Two revealed
Echo Three delighted to be born
The full teams and allocations are:

CHARLIE ONE
PMs: Emma, Harry, Laura
Venturers: Ali, Dan, Fabian, Gilles, Jocelyn, Mel, Pauline, Raja, Shivam

CHARLIE TWO
PMs: Jenny, Lou, Sarah
Venturers: Alice, Carline, Carrot, Hinesh, Jennifer, Lennard, Mangesh, Shahid

ECHO THREE
PMs: Alex, Hannah, Jess
Venturers: Adele, Amber Elisa, Angus, Appu, Caroline, Joris, Kana, Sam, Stalin

ECHO FOUR
PMs: Blair, George
Venturers: Chris, Crystal, Fiona, Frederique, Kavya, Quinten, Rory, Seth, Sridhar

You can look up the project locations on the map by clicking under PHASE MAPS on the right.

The afternoon was spent relaxing, washing clothes and packing for the next nineteen days.

Packing for nineteen days - the kitchen sink must be in there somewhere!
After another delicious curry dinner  - Halloween fancy dress was the order of the evening - they enjoyed a super slide show produced and set to music by David, showing some of the highlights of Expedition 12J so far. This was followed by Halloween-themed games including apple bobbing.

This morning the teams all set off for their new project sites, and all have phoned in to confirm their safe arrival.

Watch out for more on David's slide show, the evening's fun and games, and our charity challenge …

Hi Daniel, Great to hear from you via your telephone call with your Dad. Sounds and looks like you're having a great time and there's never a dull moment. Looks like you did a great job with the bio-gas pits and am sure the villagers will benefit from your hard work. At least on the next project you will be more sheltered from the elements in the school house...almost luxury eh. Bernard and I managed a couple of days in Anglesey - fab weather & a nice break. Went to see Skyfall last night. Had added entertainment - a fire evacuation! Met James in the car park - who insisted it was not his Halloween trick or treat! Hope all goes well with the new project and the new group. With love Mum, Bernard, Eleanor, Denise & Christine xx

    Hey Chris,
It was lovely hearing from you the other day, thank you for calling. I hope you settling in to your new mission hehe. Happy Halloween for yesterday, I wasn't near a computer yesterday so I couldn't blog you. I went for a movie night/ sleepover with a work friend for Halloween but ended up watching Over The Hedge and St Trinians 2 because that was the only thing that actually engaged our attention :s (shows how much intelligence was in the room haha) plus she snored soooo bad so evidently I didn't get a lot of sleep.
I've got a skype interview for Camp 360 on the 20th of November in which I'm also terrified of as well haha but tis a good sign that they accepted/ liked my application :).
Missing you a lot and the moon was yellowly tonight you cheesy so and so.
I don't think there is anything else going on here expect the rubbish weather (soak up the sun while you can) and work is HELL (literally) half term rush.
My mum randomly just said that The Proclaimers song "I'm on my way" is your song - probably because they sound Scottish and it was just on Shrek which we're watching lol.
Anywho I hope your ok and having fun and I can't wait to hear from you again. Oh and your performance looked good from the picture, way to go!!!! oh and shame to see your not joining Movember haha that would be funny to see.
Thinking ok you. Stay safe. Lyiow,

Hi Chris, hope this isn't the third message in the last 24 hours...I keep trying and the page keeps freezing. Usual Aberfoyle broadband I think! Great to read about your first project now finished, it all sounds amazing and well done to you all for a good job done! Hope you had a great time and enjoyed it even if it was hard work and hot. Loved seeing the pics, particularly the one of you and guitar...amazing, your music follows you wherever you go..you managed to find a guitar! All well here, Halloween over - Peter still trying to get the yellow face paint of his face (he was a skeleton/zombie). Weather pretty wet as usual, and getting cold, snow on Ben Lomond today. We're all fine - missing you but can't believe how fast the time is going. Hope you have a brilliant time on your next project. Take care. Big hugs, love Mum and everyone. xxx

Hey, you must be well into the second phase by now! I an't believe time flies. We had an uneventful Haloween, no pumpkins an not trick or treat.
Dad took me out in the silver arrow yesterday. It was beautifully sunny but quite cold. We were going to Bicester Village, but could not park, so ended up in Banbury for lunch - a lovely little town. Sadly on the way home the car had a puncture, so we drove home with a scilly little wheel on the back! All fixed now. Hope there is less digging involved in building eco sanitation! Love you lot mum, dad & Tom xxxx

Nu in Billytown. Erg lachen. Mooie omzet gedraaid.
Begreep dat jullie elkaar even gesproken hadden.
Floris erg hard aan het werk. Werkt heel hard!

Like always, kus, kus

we have alumni dinner last night. About 30 - 40 attended. Met quite a few dinosaurs, but didn't get to know everyone of them. Everyone was wearing nice clothes, thus nearly no one recognizes Ager when he walked in. Everyone says he looks far more leng zai than the normal IW look. haha. There was one dinosaur brought her 5 year old daughter! She's very cute! Jia Yau didn't know you are in India expedition already. He is running a project. Dennis baked cupcakes and cheese cake. Pei Ting said this is the most formal and high class Raleigh KL event that she has seen/joined. They are going to do a swimming relay in p.tioman april next year and got some dinosaurs in it! too bad i couln't contribute. Ar chin is in Peru now with Ar Ying.
a construction worker putting his bid in a toto shop in Sultan Badlishah. he forgot to take the toto ticket. and you know what, he wont first prize, and the toto shop worker returned the ticket to him the next day. very honest and kind lady.
datuk lee chong wei is getting married next saturday and sunday. he invited our honourable Agong, PM and ministers. the wedding will be at KLCC. very big and grand wedding, he really earns a lot. i dont remember any badminton player hosted so grand wedding in the past. NTV7 even will broadcast it live!
there have been few big indian celebrations in kar lye's house for past two days, we have been listening to oppa gangnam style too much.

    Hi Dan,
Glad to see that you are enjoying yourself and entering into the spirit of things. Just a few words of an update for you.
Wigan beat Tottenham away 1 nil. You'll never never guess who scored the goal, our friend Ben Watson the Great. I told you you he was a good player haha. We outplayed them in the first half but it was backs to the wall in the second half. They showed great spirit and determination to win the game.
Moses scored a fantastic header for Chelsea and Di Santo has been chosen to play for Argentina in the potent strike force of Lionel Messi, Aguero and Higuain, waw.
Alice stayed over last night, Mum and Dad had gone to a party. We went to the Basmati Restaurant and we booked places for twelve for Tom's birthday on the 23rd. Thought you might wish to try an Indian meal...
Grandma looking forward to seeing you so bye for now.

    lieve quint,

I hope you’re making good progress with the toilets, sorry I can’t be there to lend a hand. The flight back was amazing – I had so many glasses of champagne that i got hiccups which was a bit embarrassing! I looked a bit out of place next to all the business men in my indian trousers and raleigh t-shirt, but i took full advantage of the free snacks anyway! My first hot shower was amazing and is definitely something to look forward to when you get home! Enjoy India – I’m missing it a lot already! Beccy

Here I am back on the blog - thought I'd give you all a break!!
Fantastic photos of the skits, and returning crews and great commentary/blogs from everyone. I hope you've been able to tidy up your logs store Anna, after all that stuff descended on you!
Sports news - Melbourne Cup today won by Green Moon - no-one had ever heard of that one - won at 22-1, so some people made quite a bit. Cricket starts on Friday at the Gabba v S Africa. Shane Watson is out AGAIN, with hamstring trouble in spite of being sent home early from the 20/20 tournament! Abu Dhabi GP - Raikonnen, Alonso, Vettel - 1, 2, 3. Vettel had a penalty and started from pit lane - then zoomed through to pack to come 3rd. Webber was involved in a crash with about 4 other cars, not his fault - dang! So Vettel just hangs onto the World Championship by a few points. GP in the US this weekend for the first time, then Brazil. Wallabies play France this weekend, not exactly sure where over there but I'd put your money on Les Bleus if I was a betting person! Hope all your logs stock is remaining in order and under guard!!
    Love,

I have to carry him out to do his business which as you aware isn't an easy task. He has to lose one third of his weight within 6 weeks. No more treats! We went to the Brown Trout last week with Bonnie who enjoyed being the centre of attention. I met one of your old primary school teachers last week (Miss Crawford) and she sends her regards. I have been busy decorating - what's new. I papered your bedroom and now I'm on to the bathroom. I have to keep busy when you're away. It's been very cold here and at night we light the fire which is very cosy. Neal's still on his golfing holiday. Colin was wondering what projects to give you when you come home, he thinks you'll be an expert by the time you get home. Anyway, hope all is going well. Take care. Love you loads and loads.
