Phase 1 Team and Project Allocations Are Announced

At last the moment the Venturers had been waiting for finally arrived this (Wednesday) morning – their Phase 1 team and project allocations.

Of course, the way it was done had an Indian flavour to it. First, members of the Fieldbase team went around placing a bindi (coloured spot) on each Venturer’s forehead. Then, having identified who else was wearing the same colour and hence who their new team colleagues were, they had to search Fieldbase to find hidden PMs wearing the same colour. This told them who their new PMs were to be and which of the four projects they would be joining.
Teaming by bindi colour
Off in search of the hidden PMs
The Phase 1 teams and projects are:

CHARLIE 1
Charlie 1
Joris, Hidde, Angus, Frederique, Hannah (PM)
George (PM), Stalin, Chris, Rory, Kana, Kavya, Jenny (PM)

ECHO 3
Echo 3
Daniel, Pauline, Emma (PM), Carline, Fabian, Sarah (PM), Hinesh, Mangesh
Sivam, Carrot, Jocelyn

TANGO 5
Tango 5
Crystal, Alice, Alistair, Jess (PM), Lou (PM), Harry (PM)
Mel, Lennard, Shahid
Appu, Quinten

TANGO 6
Tango 6
Alex (PM), Fiona, Rebecca, Sam, Gilles
Blair (PM), Raja, Adele, Caroline, Sridhar, Seth, Laura (PM)

The rest of yesterday was spent packing and, in the evening, listening to a final presentation from Mark on Health and Safety.

A few things to take on expedition. Don't forget the food!
The teams will be departing Fieldbase early tomorrow (Thursday) morning. I’ll provide a brief update once they're on their way.

  4. Hi Seth, the red bindi suits you. Looks like you had an early start, just like the market days but much more fun. Have looked at your trek on the map, looks quite away from base camp..sounds like you might get to see some Elephants? That would be amazing. Dark, cold and rainy here.. Enjoy every moment of your trek, and take lots of photos. Much love mum xx

Hello my boy, well you will have done plenty of trekking by now ..I can't wait to hear of all your adventures, I wonder if you have enough energy left to write a letter or write in your journal.

I sent you a letter by snail-mail today, so I hope it will reach you? I am always missing you but keeping very busy, lots of reading etc.

  10. Carrot!!

Great to see that the Raleigh bug is still strong in you - India is a good choice (I've heard the rations are a lot nicer over there ;o)). I'm sure you will bring as much to the teams and projects there as you did to ours in Borneo. I hope you have a really fabulous time. Take care,

    Oonagh xx
