Out And About With Tango Six - The Photos

Fun, action packed, challenging and picturesque - that’s Tango Six!

Just to prove it, as promised, here’s a selection of David’s photos.

More photos will make their way into slide shows and the magazine that Venturers will bring home with them at the end of the expedition.

Enjoy!

Trekking

Seth showing that men can multitask - drinking and taking a photo

Raja enjoying being in the lead
Sam considering 'manning up' - why carry one bag when you could carry two?
Sridhar and Gilles - over the hill
Laura showing how easy it all is
Sridhar enjoying a drink in the mist
Caroline at peace with the world
Alex not quite mastering the skill of camouflage
Blair, Caroline, Anna and Simon forcing the pace

Building a shelter

A bijou residence in the making
Laura adding the final touches

Rafting
Gilles caught out by a sudden drought
Anna and Adele comparing their spare tyres
Adele - waiting to board or hoping they'll go away?
Blair leading by example ...
... While Becky looks on unphased ...
... And Fiona rises to the challenge

Relaxing

Home sweet home - a place in the country
Raju, Sam and Seth replenishing calories
PMs Laura, Alex and Blair enjoying cocktails (nothing exciting - Raleigh expeditions are 'dry')
Trying to listen to Radio Raleigh despite intermittent comms -  Becky adding a touch of brightness

A few words from the man behind the camera:
It was such a pleasure to join Tango 6 for the first few days of their adventure.  Climbing Misappulimala, seeing how deep the guys dug to meet the challenge was a privilege, and the rafting morning was possibly the most fun I have had since arriving in India.  Thanks again to everyone in Tango 6 and I hope the rest of their trek has the same vibe as the part I experienced.  - David

For those of you waiting to read about Echo Three and Tango Five, please be reassured that everyone in both teams is well. I expect to be able to publish brief updates from both later today or tomorrow.

More news and pictures will follow as soon as we can get them.  David and I are off to visit Tango Five on Tuesday for four days, and Gemma, Ruth and Teija are about to leave for Echo Three. So expect news and photos from both around next weekend.

In English to let the blog-makers know how much your work is appreciated here - we're almost travelling along...

WOW- photos look AMAZING- all that training on Camino cleared helped seeing you stride out in front like you going for a stroll on Dartmoor!!

Hope you survived the survival exercise and the leaches and snakes weren't too much of an issue!!!!

Just got back from birthday lunch for Andy today and headed back to Devon on Friday so very much looking forward to the next update on your group for a sense of excitement!!!

    I LOVE YOU,

Love seeing you looking so well and happy in these photos..spoke to Perilla tonight and Milo had seen the photos to and thought you looked really well. We were all wondering how you are coping with coping with creepy crawlies?
I spotted you have increased your muscles too, which I am sure you are very pleased with.
I also noticed your lovely curls are getting a chance to grow as you cannot rush off and cut it every few days! Miss you loads love mum x

    Hi Beccy
Lovely to see photos of you having a good time! Rafting sounds like it was great fun. Raleigh emails have stopped reaching our account - I'll contact London office today to see why (and find out when you are due back at base camp). Dad has gone to London today. I'm helping out for a couple of hours at school (though I am supposed to have finished for half term) as they are having a rush to get ballot papers out for a parent governor election. Had a text from J yesterday - couldn't make out if he is in Jo'burg or Cape Town - anyway he was just on his way out for a meal and having a good time. This must be a first for us - family members on 3 different continents! The house is very quiet but somehow I'm still not finding time to do all the jobs I have on my list! Thinking of you lots, love Mum xxx

Thank you for your first letter! It arrived today (25th) and it took less than a week to get here! Great to hear news firsthand. We knew the trek might be tough - but I'm sure it is worth it. I'm not sure I could get used to cold showers - and in the dark! I'll be posting another letter to you tomorrow but there's not much news this end. Love Mum xxx

I sent a message yesterday but not sure if it got through. The weather here has changed over night, with sleet and some snow in places brrrrrr. Enjoy every moment of that lovely hot weather out there, thermals needed on return.

I think you are due back at Camp Mond or Tues..can't wait to hear your voice and all your news. Love you and miss you lots xx Mum xx

    Hi Laura,

I've finally managed to log on and see a few of your pics. Rich has been keeping us well informed too. It's all looking great and nice to see you having a drink! Everyone here misses you lots and I can't believe how quickly the time has flown by already. It'll be Christmas before you know it and you will be back home with Rich.

I'm doing ok, we got our rings last weekend and are going suit shopping on Saturday and Menu Tasting on Sunday! Also I don't know if I told you but I bought another wedding dress! I now have two! But I much prefer this one, it's perfect. I saw Nikki on Saturday and we'd love to see you again when you are back home and have a spare moment in the Christmas week.

Take Care and see you very soon,

    Lots of Love

    Roz xxx
