Message from Fieldbase

First let me thank you all for your involvement in the blog, we are currently getting a massive 2000 hits a day, as well as an unprecedented number of messages.  Rest assured these messages mean a lot to everyone here, so please do keep them coming!  A gentle reminder that we are unable to publish any messages containing offensive langugage or inappropriate content - so please be mindful to avoid disapointment.

Venturers will return on Friday and most will have the opportunity to access the internet that day- we will also print out all the messages they have received and display them here during changeover.  The blog is interactive and messages are being sent out, you will find messages from your fabulous young people in the comments.

Don't forget snail mail!! This group are writing more letters then I have ever seen and it would be great for them to get some too.  Post is making its way through averaging about 9 days to get here. Our postal address is:

Raleigh International Expedition Fieldbase
S. No. 210 Anugraha
Jayapura Village
Mysore, 570008
Karnataka
India

Jo our comms officer is currently out visiting Tango 7, we will endeavour to continue to deliver news in her absence and there will of course be more of Claire's amazing photos.  I think you will all agree this is a pretty impressive blog, testiment to a very impressive group of people who make up Raleigh India 10C!

  2. Gareth Mellor, from sunny Lancashire.21 March 2010 at 15:36

Message for Rosie Mellor, currently on ECHO 5. Hi Rosie, this is your father speaking!! Glorious Sunday morning here in sunny Lancashire, and I have checked my veg patch, and the Black Puddings are nearly ripe enough to eat, thats if those pesky whippets don't get them first! The felines are playing out/asleep on the bed ( delete as appropriate) and I just played a trick on Bella-- the old --coax her beneath a rain filled tree, and then shake it, trick.Ho Ho, works every time!! Today is bright, but yesterday the heavens opened. Mum and I were going to have a run out, but just by the Edenfield bypass, just beyond Accrington, there was a serious crash up ahead of us, so what with the delay, and seeing the mangled wreck, we called it off. Mum came back to Burnley, and bought up the whole town ( for a fiver) A leisurely day for me today, no extra hours this weekend, so it's sorting out the garage again, sorting out the recycling, doing the shredding etc. One of the cats, no names, but watch where my eyes come to rest.....climbed up to the top shelves in the garage and re-arranged some of the boxes: re-arranged them all over the floor, that is! I wondered where that Sade tape had got to!! Dr Jody is off to the US any day, flying out to see Chicago ( I wonder if she can get John Barrowman's autograph )then back to New York, New York. Mum and I, on the other hand, have been looking at what is known as Camping Coaches. A big holiday oportunity in the Thirties, and one or two still available in the UK-a converted railway carriage, parked up next to some rural station. In the garden, the deer comes around in the middle of the night and munches Mum's cordylline, so that is in bits, and crocuses, snowdrops, and little gem daffodils are showing quite well now. Take care, letters posted Friday, and later on today. CIAO, Daddy, and Mum xx xx

    Hi Kiki,
Blogging from France! Just finished Day 1 and totally exhausted! Guess who is still on the slopes. Was raining this morning but this afternoon wasn't too bad. Will be better later this week.
Slightly concerned as the address you gave me differs massively from the one given by the guys above. Have sent to letters and the 2 parcels you requested to the address you gave me, the one that mentions the Olive Garden and the Horse Park. Can't do anything about it now. With any luck they may eventually reach you. Hope you're staying well and I'm sure you're enjoying every moment. Will be in touch later in the week. Love, Mxxx

  9. To all at Charlie One,

If there is one thing a Raleigh group can do, its dig, and dig hard! A massive well done to you all, that hole is huge! I saw the site back in December with Anna and I couldn't quite figure out how it was going to work out. CTRD is an amazing place and isn't ViJays dad just the most interesting and inspirational man you have ever met! You have all done a wicked job there and I wish you all the best of luck for the next two phases!

    Neil, ex Raleigh India PM.

PS - FB team, the blog and photos are wicked!!
