Alpha Groups for Phase Two

After a night of partying and the final results of our Team Changeover Challenge last night, the excitement continued this morning with the announcements of our new alpha groups for Phase Two of the expedition and their Project Managers. Please see below to find out who’s going where!

The Venturers relax for the evening at the 'School Disco'

Last night was Monnie’s birthday, which happily coincided with our changeover ‘School Disco’ and scrumptious barbeque.
Happy Birthday Monnie!

As a final round to our Changeover Challenge, each Alpha Group had to perform a five-minute ‘skit’, describing the events of Phase One in their group. Extra points were awarded for singing, dancing and costumes. All the groups had put in a massive effort to their performances and had been really creative with their ideas.

Alpha One had their own hilarious version to the song ‘Build Me Up Buttercup’; Alpha Two designed a play in the style of a Bollywood film, complete with singing and dancing as the final scene; while Alpha Three created a wonderful piece of musical theatre to describe daily events on trek. Unfortunately, there could only be one winner. The scores were added to the points accrued in the team challenges from the morning and the final results were as follows:

3rd Place: Alpha Three
2nd Place: Alpha One
1st Place: Alpha Two

A huge well done to all for a great evening of performances.
Venturers and staff then danced the night away under the stars to DJ spots by each Alpha group in turn.

Alpha One Song (to the tune of ‘Build Me Up Buttercup’)

We started with bricks, cement, water and mix;
But you’re late, we wait around again;
Knocked-over the wall and took a big fall;
And they laughed and they laughed again (hey hey hey);
Gara Gara [cement in Kannada language] one more time;
The masons love us, it’ll all be fine;
The end of the day brings lots of smiles at the school (oohh oohhhh)
CHORUS
Why don’t we build it up, to the top maybe, with the masons help;
As long as they turn up for work on time;
They never quite turn up when they say they will;
We need Shiju, and you and you, to get all of the work done;
We will succeed as a team;
So build it up to the top, please don’t fall down.

    It was great to have such a long chat with you and hear all about your travels - well done, I am most envious of all the sights you have seen - can't wait to see the pictures. Skiing good, a pc is in the post - boys now on ccf w/end - Ba seems to have survived! Have a great time with your trenches - the lodge is highly recommended in the Rough guide - enjoy! Missing you on the slopes, all love, Mum xxx

  4. Message for Chris Dravers:

    This'll be the last message I send on Raleigh and then you'll be off on your travels, good luck for the next 2 weeks, I hope you have loads of fun and that we can hopefully contact eachother. Perhaps your phone will work if you're going to more urban areas, but I have no idea what you're doing! I really hope you're feeling better my lovely, otherwise I worry about you being on you're own but I'm sure you'll be fine. I hope Raleigh lived up to and exceeded your expectations. I'm sure you're sad to go. Miss you loads and loads but hope you're having the best time in India. I hope the antibiotics have worked and that you're back to your normal self (i wish i could give you some natibiotics!) anyway, must go to bed now, miss you lots and lots, will be dreaming of you. Love you so much. Nats. xxxxxxx

  7. Hallo Bruno,
Liefs, mama

  10. Hi Kerala!

    The Raleigh experience looks as though it has been really interesting to date.

    I guess you will be on your last project soon - Enjoy!

    Things are great here in OZ!

    We have just finished a 16 day heat wave - above 35 degrees - so feeling really pleased to have a cooler day 29 degrees!

    I no longer have a dog as Dharma left this mortal coil on Christmas Day, but have a gorgeous little kitten called "Funny Face" - Mum thought she was lovely and has taken some photos on her phone so you may be able to have a look when you get home.

    Everyone is well here - Aunty Jill and I will be going for a trip up to a little outback town where your Grandparents were teachers when we were first in Australia - it will be a trip down Memory Lane for us - really looking forward to that.

    OK Sunshine! Take care and enjoy your next adventure.

    Lots of Love!!!
