Welcome to the official blog for Raleigh India 12I | July - August 2012

Welcome to the Official Blog for Raleigh India 12J September - December 2012.

Friday 7 May 2010

They are all back safe and sound!

We welcomed the venturers back for the final time.

Emotions are running high as people are starting to realise that it is all coming to a conclusion. Although the best is still to come and we are minutes away from the final party.

The purpose for this blog entry is to thank you all for your kind and generous donations. We have raised a massive £380 and with the gift aid contribution we are very close to our initial target so thank you readers. If you hadn't donated and wanted to we are leaving the just giving page open until the end of phase.

The winner of the half marathon was Clive but Tom Saville was hot on his heels and came in second. Although I am informed that had Tom not stopped to change into his fancy dress costume of a lungi and a cardigan there may have been a different winner. Well done both. I promise in my next blog to feature pictures of them both.

Also I should add that John Campbell and Euan Edwards manned up and did the full half marathon and not the 10k this morning so well done John and Euan. He was joined by venturers James Hutchinson, Jamie Knight Alan Smithies and Charles Salmon. Also a special well done and thank you to Anna who made the whole event happen and put in a very respectable and impressive performance this morning.

Lets not forget the 10kers

More of that later but for now its party time! Jo

  9. For Duncan sanders;
Hey you (: so you're home tomorrow, I'm so excited!! Get someone to text me when you land safely please (: I see you didn't do the run..lazy. Joking (: im so proud of you and what you've done over these last 10 weeks. It's crazy to think you've been away for so long! I hope you had fun at the party, I'm sure you did!

I don't know whether you're interested in politics but we just had the election and now it's a hung parliment, I think what's happening is a coelition (however that spelt) between lib dem and the torys. Boo, I wanted either labor or lib dem. I'm sure you will hear all about it when you're home though it's all over the news at the moment. On another note, I still haven't got the last letter you sent me. I'm going to get it after you get home I reckon aha, oh well!

Anyway I best get back to all my exciting revision, have a safe journey home and I will hear from you tomorrow (: it's so exciting you're home so soon!! I can't wait (: see you soon babe. I miss you so much, Im so looking forward to a big hug (:

    I love you.

    Hi Sophie,
You have missed an exciting election. I had to queue twice to vote as proxy. We now have a hung Parliament and are waiting to see what happens over the weekend. Its raining yet again in London so I can't plant the plants I bought.D is away in Aylesford and then goes to Brussels next week so I am a grass widow.
    Much love,
    M, D and Tiger

  16. Message for all at FieldBase

Final blog, I suppose, but I just wanted to say a big, big thank you for all the stories, photos, videos etc. We had a call from Chiara to say she was with a group of new Raleigh friends, planning their trip round Kerala. I know you gave them a great send off this weekend to bring their experience with Raleigh to a close so I want to thank you all for keeping an eye on her but also giving her the opportunity to face new and substantial challenges. Big thanks too to all the PMs - your efforts and determination and the choices you made to act as PMs, have made a huge difference to the lives of the venturers as well as the communities you have helped. Good luck to all as you take the next steps in your journey. Regards, Claire Raine

I've sent you an email with info re alternative transport arrangements for Thursday in case of volcanic ash disturbance. Please let me know what you think very quickly!!!!!!
Don't know about you other bloggers out there but I'm feeling quite sad that all this is coming to an end.
For Mark and Anna (and all the others whom I've not named) to support not only the Venturers but also the volunteer Project Managers is commendable. Your capacity to deal with all these folk is huge. Thank you.
Hope the final stages run smoothly.

  20. The Raleigh Half Marathon and 10k should be a regular event on each expedition - brilliant idea. Hope we can organise it again when I'm out there on India 10k from Sept. From Del Roberts
