The Changeover Fete and Allocations for the Final Fling

Change over at field base this weekend was completely hectic but as ever it was so much fun it made all of the hard work worthwhile. One by one the buses arrived on Friday carrying tired but excited venturers. As soon as they hopped off the bus there were embraces, hugs, laughter and many, many stories were told about the different experiences and achievements that each group had shared.

At every change over each group prepares a skit competing for the chance to receive a cooked breakfast of bacon, eggs and sausage. The prize also included a hot shower so there was much incentive to produce the funniest, edgiest production and the groups did not disappoint us. The occasion was held on the rooftop and James McClean was our hilarious MC.

The groups sang, danced and most importantly laughed all evening. Take a look......

Clive is referred to as a God by many of the venturers plays his part

Echo 5 were victorious on the night with their rendition of Cry me a River changing the words to describe their tale at the Cauvery River. They also had the huge of advantage of Geoff in his red Baywatch styley pants and Kev’s spectacular drumming on the bongos which in the end just clinched it for the group!

Is it Justin Timberlake himself...........

On Saturday we decided to run a village fete in the venturers' honour.

We decorated fieldbase with bunting and set out traditional village fete style stalls.

Mark went in the stocks and the venturers took turns to throw wet sponges at him and he sportingly took them all on the chin!

We invited Sham the Snake Man back and everyone had their photograph taken with him. There were hot dogs, a cake bake, welly wanging and a tug of war with a difference. Every time a team edged ahead in the tug of war they were met with a cold bucket of water which was almost welcome with the blistering 40 plus degree heat. Again laughter prevailed and the day was a roaring success.

Clowning around!

Welly wangers

Team tactics

Joe's measurements and decisions are final

The tug of war

Good sports!

It really is WAR

Here comes the water!

A bit of food

Cake bake

In the afternoon came the much awaited allocations and as ever field base came up with a creative way of delivering the information. The PM’s were called into the diary room and were told their destination by Big Brother whilst the rest of the team watched their thrilled reactions from the rooftop on the big screen. The venturers were given a slightly less sophisticated method of surprise with their PMs congaring in a wildly ecstatic manner encouraging each member of their team to join the line.

Do Do Do Come On and Join the Conga!!

Sadly we say goodbye to Dwhani Soni, Nick Finnegan , Juliet Cameron Wilson, Kat Thomas, Catriona Rizzuto, Sarah Wilson, George Wills, Cat Cameron, Phil Hudd and Joyce Lau (although Kat and Sarah cling on under the guise of plane delays from Iceland - they are the privledged few to hang out with the FB team)

But we welcome James and Shalmali!

With just 18 days this phase we know it will fly by and before you know it it will be time to say good bye.

  1. Hi David, finally saw you at the end but not sure which group you are in now and what you will be doing for the next 2+ weeks. It looks as though a good time was had by all at fieldbase before you all departed again. Did the beard come off? Thinking of you

  2. For Tom Saville

So it's off to Charlie 2. Got your phone message when we got back from France. All sounds great and some brill photos of changeover party. Enjoy the last phase. What plans for post-Raleigh?

Big news here is still the dust- 60,000 flights cancelled in last 5 days and UK airspace still closed. John Cleese paid 4000 euros for a taxi from Oslo to Amsterdam. Ticket touts in Italy bought up all train tickets and sold them off at huge profit and so it goes on...

... including election madness. Nick Clegg is man of the moment, ahead of Labour in polls but it cannot last (or can it?.....). Would be astonishing if Libdems had a breakthrough - their problem has always been that they get a big number of votes but usually come 2nd or 3rd so don't win many seats - that's why they want electoral reform.

Guy working v hard on big contract he won. Lotsa dosh involved!

    See you soon,

    Dad

    Hi Sweetheart
Still not sure what you are doing in the last phase but i am sure it will be as enjoyable and exciting as previous. The photos's are brill and i have saved them so you will be able to see them on your return.
It looks like the flight bans are set to ease and should open from tomorrow morning. The Royal Navy have been ordered to either Channel ports or Spain to pick up as many as possible that are stranded, that is the latest news.
Not much else happening at the mo apart from the elections which are in full swing.
So enjoy the next phase and hope to hear soon what that is.
    Take Care Love you always.

    Hey Dunk,
Hope the Icelandic volcano is sorted out by the time you get back! Me, Lucy and Mel don't fancy standing around in the arrivals lounge looking at a blank arrivals board (don't worry we won't). Just got back from a great trip to Sorrento. Pompeii was fantastic. We had an extra bonus day due to the volcano, but the pay back was 3 days of travelling by coach to get back. So many teachers off at Faringdon and KAs that KS3 classes were told to stay at home (14 stranded abroad in my school). If planes are flying again I'll write at the weekend, but I don't think it'll be organised by then so watch this space and send us a blog or e mail to confirm you want us to meet you. Photos look great - you actually do have facial hair!!

    Ciao

Rebecca is here tonight as she flies off tomorrow by Train to Newcastle.
Your mother is still stranded in Tunisia and will not start her job as a teaching assistant for another week.
I say teaching assistant, make that Lollipop Lady in Chingford!
Rebeccas tells me that Tommy Vowles? ;you were at school with him, is on TV soon in "Snog , Marry, Avoid" It takes all sorts doesn't it?

I have had many offers to appear on the One Show & Jonathan Ross following my Crossword success. My agent is handling them and so far I am scheduled to open the Neasden gymkhana. Get in there!

Hi there. Great pictures on the blog. Everyone looks like they're having a great time. I see what you mean by your losing weight. Same can't be said of your brother! He's off tomorrow and still hasn't confirmed his univ. Heh planning all sorts of routes to get home but possibly best to wait it out. To think Uncle Paul drove to Greece and back - definitely a good idea in hindsight - shame he didn't collect his neice en route! I hope to go to the States in 24 hours but don't hold much hope. Schools back now so traffic jams over our side of town til the bridge opens in July! Working on your car - will let u know outcome asap. love all.

Weer eens even een berichtje vanuit mijn voorverwamde bedje in Hillytown!

  14. As a PM change over is always hectic, manicly busy and most of the time anything but a break, it is always guaranteed fun though! I especially enjoyed seeing just how much your venturers have grown and developed in the past previous three weeks when they strut their stuff in the end of phase skits! I love the the 'Fieldbase Fete' idea. Oh how I wish I was still on expedition!

Mark, your long hair is looking great! Where ever did you get inspiration for such a look?!? Just need some work on the handle bar tash now. :)

We are off to the Old Bakery restaurant tonight then spending the weekend at "Little Steeping". It looks about as remote as you can get in Lincolnshire. I wonder if we might meet some Raleigh International personnel there on a trek. R&J have now retired to their respective academic institutions, R is desperately trying to finish his coursework as I write this-deadline tomorrow. Latest news on the planes. UK airspace now open again! Is this because the volcanic ash has gone away. Nope. It is becasue the authorities have now raised by a whole TEN TIMES the concentration of ash it is considered safe to fly through. So it turns out that under the new rules, most if not all of the thousands of cancelled flights could have taken place. You couldn't make it up. All this has happened on the day of the next election broadcast so at least they are useful for something...

  30. Hi Kate,

Hope you are well and enjoying the trek? Everyone is fine here but Gemma, Kurt, Gregory and Amelia are not back yet. They phoned Mum on Tuesday and said that they were going to try and get flights to Madrid and then try and get home via Calais. But the planes have started flying again today - so we don't know what is happening now! I think they are getting worried because Lydia is off on the 1st of may. One of the teachers at work had to hire a car in Spain and drive to Calais. It cost her £2000 for the car, petrol, tolls, ferry and trains and the insurance will not cover them.

We have not been up to much. I am taking Gabriel out on Saturday to get his Confirmation clothes (and I suppose I will have to get Verity something to wear as well). He has chosen John as his confirmation name!

Gabe only went back to school today and the Salvo is still not open to years 7 and 8!

    Speak to you soon,

Hope you're getting through the Trek ok and the knees & feet are holding out! I'm not sure where you're going as there's no detail on the blogsite but assume you're following in the footsteps of the other venturers. You'll already have done 4 days and hopefully getting a day's rest soon.
I've posted a letter to you so hope you get it before you finish at Raleigh. The situation with the ash will probably have created a backlog but flights are leaving almost normally now so hopefully it won't take too long to catch up. Fiona has also written to you apparently but she sent it to the Olive Garden address so you may never get it!
Had a letter from Ant today with a photo and lots of news but will email you seperately. It was lovely to hear from him.
Looks as though Emilie journey to Australia should go ahead as planned. I have ordered her a cake just like the one I ordered for you before you left. Weather looks set to be good so we're going to have a bbq.I'm sure we'll all be talking about you and I'll have the pc set up so everyone can look at the photos.
There were loads of photos of the return to fieldbase but you were only in 1! However, you looked well and happy so that's good. Glad to see Echo 5 won the prize and bet you enjoyed the hot shower and fried breakfast! Well done! Hope you're getting some sleep over there and that the trekking goes well. Love, Mxxxx

Dikke kus, Mam & Pap & Floor.

Not much news from back home, been back at work 3 days now, and its going ok so far (but roll on the weekend!!) We had 13 teachers stuck in various places all over the world on Monday cos of the volcano, but we still opened (was hoping we wouldn't of course lol).
Anyways, I have some far more important news for you (which I wrote on facebook, but though you'd get it quicker on here lol). You'll never guess who I saw the other day?? lol... the tall guy from Paddy's day in the Roisin Dubh who provided us with fat frogs all day. Was driving through Queensbury and saw him, was cracking up in my car on my own like a mad woman. Had a look out for the priest and the ginger one that proposed to all of us incase they were together but they were no where to be seen lol.
Well, as you can see by the fact thats my most important news theres nothing else much going on, apart from its nice and sunny and quite warm at the min :) had something else to tell you as well but i've forgotten.
anyways, hope your still having the most amazing time, enjoy every second of it :)
can't wait for your return so you can tell me all about it. lots and lots of love (more than the love i feel for planets lol) Sarah xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

    For Lowenna Carlson

The photos look fab! You all look like your having an amazing time, I get so excited when I spot you :) CANNOT wait to hear all your stories! Guess what, it's STILL sunny here, not quite as hot as what you have but it's meant I've had plenty of beach trips and the bbqs have been out in force. All the holidays tourists have left now, back to school for the kiddies! You'll be impressed that I went surfing without a wetsuit on Sunday (unintentionally...I forgot it) but I managed 40mins in the sea, which is currently about 8 degrees, brrrr! Fizzy says hi, she now has a new pen and Molly says hello too, she's playing outside at the moment. Enjoy the last few weeks of your trip. Seeing all your photos and blog updates makes me want to be gappie all over again, you never forget the fun times!
Hope the feet are ok. Power through :) BIG LOVE xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Fizzy 1 to Charlie 3, rover. Its trouble here. Great to see some photos of you at last. You look like your having fun now you have done your walkies, with gammy paw and all. Hope the antibiotics have done the trick, with that dose you’ll probably sterilise the whole village! By the way tell George and his friends in the fieldbase that there are some more bones from Harry coming. Been looking at past Charlies and looks like you can get a good swim in a reservoir and maybe see some elephants. I went out with master on an elephant type thing today in the woods. Great fun and fresh poohs too! Though did not have time to stop as going quite fast. Glad you got the stick OK – could not see the point of it, far too small to throw or fetch, so look forward to seeing your pictures. Well have a great time playing with the water and the school kids. Hope they can sit as well as me now? Looks like the volcano has stopped so see you in a couple of weeks and I’ll take you out for a proper walk. Rover and Out; Fizzy Foxtrot 1......

Message for Lauren Mcdonald - Charlie 2 , Hiya babe well coming to the end of your trip now and wow what a great time you have had. It was lovely talking to you the other day and like I said I will write on here as often as possible to make up for that last letter lol. The pictures on here are great and you look soooo well, your looking great and you look good in those trousers, watch them when you get home or Nats might be nicking them lol. We are all so excited about seeing you and I cant believe how brown you are, well actually I do because you only look at the sun and tan, unlike your poor mum. Well the bedrooms turning into a disaster, the paint I was using has been discontinued (about my luck) lol so I have had to come up with a plan B if I cant get it today from the shop that says it has some, but I think you will be pleased either way, its so bright and fresh looking. Well take care babe, will write again soon, I had already posted on here but it has not appeared so if it does you may get 2 similar messages lol. Love you lots and as always stay safe and keep strong. Love you soooo much, mum.xxxxxxxx

Sejal is not leaving India until June so let me know if you want me to contact her?
Also need to change your return flight - let me know what date for. Lisa P wants to talk to me about booking hostels for end of July so I think I will book and you can always change it when you are back or there.

I cant beleive that you've been away for 7 and a half weeks! It does seem a lot longer! Only 2 n a half weeks left and I for one am glad that you'l be back home so soon!
I've been getting really excited about glasto this past week - only 61 days Kate! 61 days! Have you heard about the line-up? I really wanna just write the whole thing but will write a letter to you with the whole list. The big name which has surprised people this year is snoop dog - he's gonna be playing on friday. There are so many acts that I dunno who to even name - Dizzy is on again (supporting U2 - seems a little strange don't it) and faithless are supporting stevie wonder, and scissor sisters supporting muse (- another confuser). One clash Iv already orked out is that Vampire Weekend, Florence and the machine and mumford and sons should be on at the same time! Think im feeling mumford and sons - what du reckon?
Anyway, I hope all is going well out there and that ur enjoying yourself - it looks like you are in the photos! Not much going on in Harrow, apart from going out for Nic's bday which was a funny night in Harrow, and going down to Brighton for the night which we should do again very soon!
Miss you loads Kate! Speak to you soon!

  61. To Lauren Pegg (Tango 6)

    Hi Lauren,
How are your feet holding up??? I bet you are seeing some lovely, inspiring, panoramic views on your trek. Take loads of photos for us so you can spend hours and hours thoroughly boring us when you get back.

Well, we've finally arrived home from Tunisia - only 5 days late! What a dreadful time we had though having to spend hours and hours and days and days at the airport. We were told we were on an early flight on Thursday, all our seats were confirmed and we were booked on to the flight and about to board when we were turned aside and told we couldn't get on as Tunisair had sold our seats on to BA in some dodgy deal or other. So all our luggage had to be taken off the plane and we had to go back through customs and queue up in check-in all over again. Poor Eleanor was so upset she couldn't stop crying - she was worried about flying anyway thinking we'd crash because of the volcanic cloud, so this didn't help at all! Our Tunisian agent was so disgusted by how we'd been treated - and because there were a lot of children and babies in our party - that he phoned the brother of the President of Tunisia and President ordered Tunisair to put on another flight for us, which ended up being better as at least the 4 of us sat together (originally none of us were even though it's against IATA rules to separate children under 9 from a parent). Our original flight was delayed for nearly 4 hours by the time they got all our luggage off and because of the hassle people who'd been turned off were making, so in fact the flight we eventually got on left 30 minutes after the first flight! i was secretly pleased about that. then when we got home David's car rear window had been smashed by a road work crew, who'd also turned off our gas on 9 April so the house was freezing and it's only just been sorted out.

Apart from that everything is fine here and we're pleased to be home. Phew...never again!!!

    Love you lots Mother Ducks

When are you back mate? We'll have to go play some snooker when your home, the crucible's on at the moment and I can't stop watching. Hendry nearly didn't make the 2nd round eventually winning 10-9 to an 18yr old Chinese guy, Steve Davis is leading John Higgins 6-2, and O'Sullivan was nearly docked a frame for swearing at a ball, fair bit of drama! :) Speaking of drama, Pompey beat Spurs to make the FA Cup Final after being relegated from the prem for going into administration?! What is going on?! Awesome entertainment.

Message for Fieldbase....and Harriet Jones who lost her phone during week 1, making arrangements a bit difficult. If at all poss, could she be asked if she wants to extend her stay?

Still thinking about the brief panicky email message at the weekend re changing flights. Harriet, if you want me to do this for you, you will need to give me a date as soon as you can pls.

News from home.... went into apple shop today and spoke to Windows as a couple of things have disappeared off the screen of your mac and I wanted to get them back for you. Very helpful! Asked after you of course. Also had a message from Tamsin today asking when you were home. So, you see, we haven't completely forgotten about you!
Love the trousers by the way, you definitely need a festival date so that you'll be able to wear them again. Talking of festivals, have booked several events at Hay for us now, including some filmy ones, a theatre one, a walk (!) and Rob Brydon stand up. Make sure you are home for the weekend of May 29th onwards !!!

Hey Dunc! Spring has sprung. We have sunny warm days at the moment, the dog has recovered from chocolate poisoning (eating too many Easter eggs) and I was spotted on South Today as our coach was filmed arriving back from Sorrento with the tenuous connection that we'd been held up by a volcano whilst visiting another one. Famous for 15 minutes. I have applied for your loan, but can go no further as I can't get on to your e mail. Tried lots of possible passwords but you have been elusive on this one. We'll leave accommodation to you, unless Claire comes up with something - after all it's only 2 weeks now. Enjoy the rest of your stay - you seem to have had such a good time. Sorry I missed the other phone call!! Greg rang and wants to come to the UK in June ostensibly to look for work. Any ideas? Do you think The Swan would take him? Take care

    Dear Charles,

I cannot tell you how delighted we were to get your phone call today. We arrived in Aldeburgh on Tuesday and brought Daniel with us. He returned to London yesterday and goes back to Nottingham on 4 May. We have had wonderful weather but it has been rather cold despite a lot of sunshine. The asparagus in your garden is growing well. We have eaten some and it tasted excellent. We shall be taking some home to your parents on Monday. In fact the asparagus season has only just started. The Aldeburgh market cafe has been refurbished and the food has greatly improved. At Friday Street they have opened a fish shop where they used to sell baskets. We have been watching the new special election debates on TV. They have turned out to be rather boring.
We do hope that you have a good journey home and greatly look forward to seeing you on your return and hearing about your experiences.

  71. MESSAGE FOR RACHEL HARD:

    Hey Rachy,

Just thought I’d send you a little message, I don’t know if you’re even getting these but I’ll keep posting them on the blog thing anyway so it makes you look loved!
I was so glad to see you’re post on Laura’s fb sounds like you’re having an absolutely fabby time while I’m stuck in Bath revising. Mind you the weather has been pretty lush recently (well for England in April anyway!) but I bet it’s nothing compared to what you’re having (TAN!!!). I don’t know if you will have heard about the whole Iceland volcano thing but that pretty much caused carnage across Europe – luckily it’s all better now though so there should be no problems with you coming back home (not long now!!!!). I don’t really have anything to tell you – my life is very uninteresting at the moment – still got another two weeks of lecturers left and then its revision week. Why are exams so hard and scary?! Oooh the only really exciting thing is that we have the keys to our house for next year so we finally got to go and see it, but it will look totally different when we move in because they are doing loads of building work and redecorating but it should be really nice and I expect you to come and visit! I’m actually going home next weekend because it’s Mum and Dad’s birthday and I need to get my passport so I can open a new savings account (yes my life really is that thrilling!) so I’m going see if Lau will be free now that the others have finally gone back to university!
Basically Rach I miss you loads and loads but I’m sure you’re having an amazing time and I can’t wait to hear all about it – as soon as all my exams are over I’m coming straight home and then straight to yours so be prepared! I hope everyone is really really lovely and being very supportive and looking after you.
I told you about my Easter eggs in the last letter – I still haven’t eaten them so really wish I could post them to you as obviously chocolate and a chat solves every problem!

Love you lots and lots, stay safe my darling I’m always thinking about you,

    Love Cara xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

P.S. I may be possibly planning something very exciting for you’re birthday that will require me ringing you’re Mum – I really hope she doesn’t mind!

P.P.S. I’ve been looking at the blog and I can spot you in photos – this excites me greatly!

i have decided to create a competition: in the next month, who can turn into a bigger gap-yah tragedy, you or me/livia. we are two teams competing for the ultimate prize of RESPECT. if your head really is shaved and you haven't had a shower since arriving in india yet id say you're winning... but i am wearing a scarf from sapa, indian hareems, no shoes, 16 bracelets, massive hoops earrings, my bia 333 t shirt (not as good as the chang one though) and i chundered everywhere a few days ago!! must tell you that story, it doesnt dissappoint.

glad you enjoyed my MENTAL pictures. i had a billboard time drawing them.

i dont really know what to say. bearing in mind everyone else is gonna read this (especially your rents).. well i hope you're having as much fun as marc says you are. im counting down the days till we are reunited- hubby and wife as it was meant to be.

i love you mendizzle. be cool.

(oh yeah, charlie griffiths says hi!)

    Hey babycakes!
Hope trekking is tollerable or even good! I'm sure you are a pro by now. That is, if you are still alive after all the gluten you are bound to have consumed from the many, many parottas.
I am STILL in Bangalore! My friend's flight was cancelled and she only just got here today (a week late). Hopefully heading north tomorrow or Tues. Had to cut out Kerela due to the whole trip now a week shorter. Boo!
    Speak soon,
    Love from Louise

Hey Krips!!!! How's it going?? Just checking the pictures - theres one of you making a whole lot of noise!! haha We could never keep you quiet could we?!? haha
So you are on the final stint of your trip now! Can't believe that you are back in a few weeks..
Mum told me you called on the weekend, I was really gutted that I wasn't at home to speak to you. I was expecting you to call on the 17th, so didn't expect you to call on the weekend.
Mum told me to email Kunal for you though - so I'll find his email addy and let him know when you will be in Mumbai.
I have some news for you!! I applied for a new job internally and I got it!! It's a really exciting new role and will be a big challenge - so I am looking forward to it. It's the direction the company wants to move in and so they created a new team to make it happen, so I can imagine it will be very exciting as I get my teeth stuck into it - plus it's much better than the other one I went for (the one I told you about on the phone.)

I've posted you a letter so you should get that soon...

I hope you are having a fantastic time and don't miss us too much! I'm really missing you a lot. I wish you were at home being all loud and fun! :) It's too quiet without you!! I think we are going to have a great time living together once you get back and settled in again...

Anyway I miss you heaps and love you a lot.

    Your lil sis,

Hi love!! Hope you're having an amazing time out there. so sorry it's taken an age to blog you, have just worked out how to do this stuff!!

Having been searching for pix/news of you - saw a recent one of you cheering heartily about something, so i guess you're having lots of good times! i'm sure lots of hard graft too as well!!

Not much news here - it's all politics and sunshine in England at the moment (am sure you heard about the volcano ash cloud blah, blah!)...

I know it's a little late but hope you had a fantastic birthday over there. Can't wait to hear about all your adventures when you're back and catch up properly.

We're all fine, Nathan still not quite walking but speeding around in every other way but! Jaya recently been enjoying trying/buying outfits for B's wedding, which is so not far off now, v exciting. Dan's cool, sun's out and so are the sandals and the BBQ so he's a happy bunny!!

Ok hon. Look after yourself, and I will make more of an effort to do this (now I know how!!). Lots of love Vershxx

  85. Hi James,( Echo 4 Mclean)Were at Grandad's, weve been showing him your photo's on the blog, he seems to understand a bit more what your doing in India. Charlie's off playing football, he's scouted by three football teams, he'd like to play with Crewe Alex apparently they have a very good football acadamy, it has a good reputation. Gemma enjoying being part of the netball team, Jake remains uninterested in anything sporty, there all looking forward to seeing you in June. Grandad says he hope you keep enjoying yourself, he's impressed with everything your all doing out there. Phil said is it a high voltage fence he hears elephant hide is quite thick. lots of love Mum,Phil,Rob, Charlie, Grandad and Sheilaxx

  86. Hi Henry,
Hope all is well, you are still having fun and have recovered from the trek. All is well here - Joshua had his first cricket match today and took 3 wickets and top scored so was very happy with that even though they drew! I am off to Salcombe for the week-end to sail and mummy is coming down for a night to go to the dinner. The football looks like it will go right down to the last game. Spurs and Villa are level on points but Villa have played one more game. They both have to play Man City who are a point behind and Liverpool have an outside chance but play Chelsea this w/e. Chelsea are a point ahead of Utd with both having 2 games to go. We are all thinking of you lots and hope all is going really well, lots of love, Daddy, Mummy and all xxx

  87. For Geoff Wells

It was lovely to hear from you on Sunday. I have passed on the news to all the family, who are very interested in all your doings.
All is wellhere. Ruth and Steve have 1 duck and her 15 ducklings in their back garden. Apparently they are VERY cute. The barn conversion is going ahead apace, be prepared to help them move.

Gordon Brown is not doing very well: he has called a little old lady a 'bigot'. All hell has broken loose and he has e mailed all party members to apologise. Third debate tonight, I will record it.

    Take care of yourself
    Love Mum

  88. Message for Paula Brocki.. Hi Little dude who left you in charge of cake... Serious error of judgement that. Well your little Ka is going in for service and MOT on Tuesday, I will just add it to your tab. Not much happening here Amanda has some news for you but I will let her tell you that, work is work and the footy season is drawing to a close so I will now have stress free Saturdays. When you get home you will see a big change in the garden, pond is finished, gazebo is up and we have some new lights so all we need is a BBQ summer... Well hope all is well and the elephants/leeches/tigers/giant ants don’t get you.. See you sooner than you can blink lots of Love Dad & Yvonne.

  89. Urgent message for Harry Swinton (Echo 5)

H, we need some contact as we are having to allocate your accomadation at Cambridge. There is one place on a day bed in the porters lodge which Mummy thinks you might like - otherwise she thought that mixing with the postgrad geophysics crowd might encourage your studies. I'd recommend early contact to avoid disappointment.

We also need your UCAS code and pin to apply for yout miserly grant and fees. Very Urgent.

Also keen to learn of your plans post Raleigh 'cos if you are going anywhere near Goa you need to start taking both lots of malaria tablets NOW NOW.

If you don't ring soon Mummy will kick over the traces and be lost to us all in a haze of white wine and minstrels.

Need to sort out your passport and hope that you may consider joining us in France.

Huge riots in Thailand may require a re-think will monitor the situation.

    Don't be a stranger - call soon.
