Welcome to the Official Blog for Raleigh India 12J September - December 2012.

Important message!

This is a message to all at home who are using the blog to send messages to their friends and family on expedition. Thank you for keeping up to date with what we're doing, we hope you're enjoying reading it as much as we are enjoying putting it together.

As you know the comms team of myself and Ali are often out on loop trips to the project sites, which means we can't update the blog all the time and there is often a short delay from when messages are submitted to when they can be approved and posted.

Some recent messages have had inappropriate words in them which have to be edited (or deleted if we can't edit them) before they can be posted, and if they are not in English, this can be more time consuming. Messages with sexual content, swear words, references to drugs etc can not be published.

As a reassurance, if we can't post the messages on the blog, we will be printing them out and passing them on to the venturers when we see them. However, important messages will be passed on over the communications system.

We are aware the Danish messages have been taking longer to approve and unfortunately on this occasion they were submitted while we were on a loop visit. They will be passed on on Monday when the venturers return to Fieldbase.

With all that said, keep checking the blog, we have loads more to tell you as we gear up for changeover and loads more messages from the venturers which are being typed up as we speak!

  5. Benny at tango 7. Well then my beaut! Your trek must be almost over now...we have the weeks counted on the calendar. I had a great time in Bruxelles with Colleen seeing old friends that we had not seen for 28 years!!!! We also ate waffles (gauffres Liegeois) - delicious, pomme frites with mayonnaise - gorgeous, and lots of Belgian chocolates --- mmmm!! Eurostar train was good and I was impressed with St Pancreas. Dad watching the footy as I type - mmm...against Arsenal. Not sure whether to tell you the score. Not so good. Will leave it up to dad. Callum off to nans tomorrow. He has some work experience with Colleen on the film. Good, eh! lots of love and will update you further soon. Off to haloween party this evening! xxx mum xxx

  6. We understand messages with sexual content
will not be allowed on blog,
we must stick to words of encouragement
news of families, friends, cat or dog.
Raleigh cannot allow swear words on line,
    in Danish, English or French,
so we must leave all the cursing
to the venturers, with shovels, in trench.
Drug references are taboo as well
and can be very hard to take,
    unless we mention paracetamol
for the blog teams persistent headache.
Messages come in all the time,
    a multilingual and constant stream,
so we must understand and be patient
    like Raleighs hard working team.

    Keep up the good work
    Best Wishes to all

Lovely to get another message on blog and Grandma read it as well. She sends lots of love and so do Nana and Grandad. ~Grandad I have tried to show her how to use blog - anything could happen now!!! Max survived Halloween 6th form social - went dressed as a monkey. He has got assessment week next week, his revision seems to have consisted mainly of skateboarding so we will see how he does!. Wednesday drew yesterday - mid table one above United (but they play tomorrow so have game in hand - Dad's going with Richard Ross). Just ordered another wacky gadget - a paw cleaner for the dogs - mainly Daisy (I can hear you laughing at me from here!) Anyway I will send loads of love. Glad its all going well. Hope letters are waiting for you at field base from us. Mum & Dad xxxxx

  9. Message for Georgie Webb

Darling Georgie! I don't know where to start!! How are you? How is everything going? We miss you so much, I think about you all the time but I'm sure you're having the most amazing time. I hope your birthday was fun. I did think of you and meant to write on here, but I've been so busy at the moment, I haven't even been on facebook for yonks, if you can believe that?! So much for this lazy student thing! I'm trying to think of gossip to update you with but I don't think there even is any.. Emily Davies is in the GYM as we speak! I know, I didn't believe it either, she walked into my room in trackies and I was like, what aaaare you wearing?! haha. We've been ticking along fine here in sunny Reading (I'm lying, it's horrible and cold and rainy) but we're still having loads of fun and getting a bit of work in here and there too. All the others are fine too, I spoke to most of them yesterday and I think everyone's happy. We all miss you though.
Tonnes and TONNES of love honey, I'll write again soon. Take care, hope you're having so much fun.
Love you and miss you loads, Freya XXXX
