Tomorrow is a sad day for Raleigh India as we bid goodbye to one of our founding members - Amanda. After 3 years of volunteering for Raleigh both here and in Costa Rica, Amanda will return to her own life in Lanzarote. Amanda started as an Administrator in Costa Rica 3 years ago, and after a couple of expeditions there came to give us a hand to set up Raleigh India. Her commitment and dedication to Raleigh is nothing short of inspirational and her contribution will be greatly missed.
Helen, Anna, James, Amanda, VJ, Mark & Hayley raise their tang filled cups to honor a great woman
Amanda has spent a lot of her time behind a computer screen sorting out the endless paperwork that comes as part and parcel of running an expedition of this nature, and so today Mark and the Fieldbase crew decided to treat her to her very own expedition lunch, complete with trangias, tang and of course the 3 bowl system.
Mark cooks up a storm - slight role reversal
Good luck Amanda - que te vaya bien! Thank you for everything!!!!

ReplyDeleteHi Sweety,
great to see lots of photo's and have saved them all. I am with Uncle Soggy Fog Noo and Aunty Frodo for the weekend and Alex has been looking at the blog and i think he is going to consider doing something similar from what Aunty Ca was saying.
Everyone has said they hope you are having a good time out there and am positive you are.
Good Friday today so a lovely Fis Pie for tea yum yum and Roast beef and easter eggs on Sunday, (not mixed together of course).
Amanda is coming up in May for a week so hopefully you will be able to get down for the weekend as you will be back from India by then and i will be able to make you a fab roast dinner and homemade yorkshire Pudds Lol.
Thats all for now so take care and keep smiling.

ReplyDeleteHi Sam - hope you're enjoying the trek; sounds a fab trip. Just a quick note to say Happy Easter and no word yet from Granny Sylvia's friend in Bangalore. She's e-mailed; waiting for a reply. All quiet here. Mum's off filming in Aberdeen for a week and I'm taking Niamh skiing tomorrow. Another dump of snow fell last week so enjoy the heat!
lots of love Dadxx

ReplyDeleteGreat to have your call from Kumaly today .. checked it out on Google Maps and watched YouTube movies of the place so almost feel we've been there, done that and now wait for you to bring us back the t-shirt!!
This is a great blog but no photos of you recently. Think Fieldbase are visiting you on Sunday so perhaps there may be some next week.
About to watch ManU (without the injured Roooooney who's out for two weeks or so) play Chelkski. Premiership decider?
Did have some sunshine this morning but rain clouds heading over and doing their worst! Nevertheless after the footy, Chris and I will go hit some golf balls, before raiding the wine rack and help prepare a meal for Kath & Paul tonight. All seems world's away from you trekking miles up and down hillsides and yomping through tea plantations. But you sounded in great spirit. Raleigh is such a wonderful life-enhancing experience.

ReplyDeleteHi Kiki,
Hope you're enjoying yr time in Bandipur Nat Park. The photos we have seen show scenes of rivers, hills and hints of a "Beach"-like paradise. We have been told there is no Leo Di Caprio for you to swoon over! I'm sure you've all been working hard since you arrived - almost a week there already and almost 5 since you left. The Raleigh Team have been putting up an array of photos from the 1st phase which has been great as it gives all us parents something to look at until news from the individual groups arrive.
Big news is that we finally had an email from your Big Bro. He's doing ok. Will fill you in with the details in a letter.
Quiet Easter here as Dad is determined to catch up on long overdue jobs - you'll see quite a few changes when you come home!
My typing was interrupted with a call from Ant. So lovely to hear his voice - will update you in a letter as too much to say on here. I will probably repeat myself as I forget what I've written on here and what I've already told you both! Hopefully you'll get letters and parcels when the Raleigh Team do the food drop-off.
Hope you're continuing to enjoy all those wonderful experiences, Love you lots, MxDxxx

Message from Kate Mckeon
ReplyDeleteHi everyone,
Thanks again for the messages. Happy Easter! Hope you have a nice time. Happy Birthday Nicola! Hope you have a wonderful day, sorry I'm not at home for it. Having a really good time in Kudimerry - we're living with a tribe, refurbishing their houses. There are 8 families here and the kids are cute, we've been teaching them the hokey kokey and head, shoulders, knees and toes, and the other night they taught us an Indian game. We accidently dug up the remains of a goat when we were digging a long drop which was quite freaky! Yesterday we did some tea picking and had a zombie party, was a great day. Thanks Nic and Newbs for your letters, replies are in the post. Half way through now! Hope you are all well - keep the letters coming with more news from home please.
lots of love
Katexxx

ReplyDeleteHats,
Great to get your email and see the photo from E4 on the blog looking fragrant(and no mascara?!). Spent a while on the phone sorting out your flight - I am now your Travel Arranger! Same flight number and time on 25th.
You are not missing much here. Its still raining, so Mum and I cannot do the garden - shame! Off to Denham instead, and tea with Tish and baby Joe. Its great to have Charlie home. Hs has borrowed your room to work in.
Hope the rest of the trek is as wonderful as it looks on the blog. Looking forward to seeing your photos.
Loads of love

ReplyDeleteDear Rachel, hope you are fit and well and enjoying the project. I imagine you falling into your hammock at night, pretty tired from all the fence building. Actually, the back garden fence at home could do with some repair work, now I come to think of it...
I part-exchanged the car but took her to a side road and took some photos before saying goodbye. She will go to auction and become someone's pride and joy as their first car. New car is very smart.
Love you so much darling girl and look forward to hearing from you when possible. Big hugs, mum xX

ReplyDeleteDear Rachel,
Hope you are well and working hard. Your Easter eggs are here waiting for you when you come home. Grandma and I are busy having a domestic time : today I made bread and a cake and we walked into town for coffee. On the way back we walked through the Malvern College grounds past the new swimming pool which looks fab. Will definitely investigate joining as it's so close. Chapter 8 had a good photo shoot in the cathedral: looks like we've got some photos we can use for the new website and general publicity. Very much love mum xx
