Changeover was a hive of actvity but had a lovely chilled vibe. On skit night the bar had most definetly been raised with some funny, some musical and some darn right surreal! The Charlie Two girls all looked gorgeous in their new saris but it was Echo Three who scooped the prize with an awesome The Good, the Bad & the Ugly take off.
Wednesday was handed over to the Graduates to run the show, as they took the reigns of the schedule, activities, food and entertainment. A trip to local village Jayapura in the morning was a lot of fun. The group were split into teams and given a scavenger hunt to complete. The children in the village were particularly excited to have us invade!
A delicous bbq feast was prepared by them for lunch. We then bid a fond farewell to Irena and Shaun ...
The afternoons was chill out time with optional henna painting
and then an Indian Ball in the evening, complete with an Indian drumming band.
It was also a double celebration as it was Anu's birthday. |

ReplyDeleteHi Jonny,
We enjoy watching the blog and catching up with what you're doing. We see you're off to bog build! Not the weather here for such things, it's well into the minus figures with snow here (not in Camb yet), so you'll notice the cold, will bring something warm for you to wear when we see you at airport! All OK here, new job good. Looking forward to seeing you soon. Loads of love and hugs coming your way x

ReplyDeleteHi love,
Best of luck with the Phase Three building work. Take care when running up and down those ladders with hods full of bricks! Looking forward to seeing you in three weeks. Your mum has bought the fridge cake ingredients! We've also washed your body-blanket 'cos it's freezing here (minus 18 degrees in Wales) and you'll need all the cold comfort you can get after months in a warm climate.
Lots of love from Dad, Mum, Michael and H&W

Got message about plane times - all good I'll set off extra early and make sure I'm there for you.
Possibly the first time in 25 years I havn't seen my baby sister on her birthday - but this may be the most memorable so far for you. I've no idea what to get you - it feels like you might come back a different person after these amazing experiences!
Big love from all of us.

ReplyDeleteHe lieve Mielie,
Hele dikke kus, Loveyou Pom

ReplyDeleteHey hun,
I hope you are settling into phase 3 with your new group and they aren’t working you too hard in building the eco toilets. I am glad to hear you are contributing to environmentally sound schemes, Im sure you are fascinated and loving it. I hope the local community has taken a liking to you all, they all sound so enthusiastic, that will be great to experience. I look forward to the update and hearing how it is going.
Thank you for your message last week, lovely to hear from you, Im glad you had fun on Echo Three, sorry you didn’t get to see the elephants! You look great from the blog pictures hun ☺, but I can’t tell whether you’ve tanned or sunburned! I hope it is the former.
I had fun in Blackpool last weekend and successfully completed the Reindeer Run 10k in 50 minutes, not bad for barely any training and the fact it was minus 3 degrees! Its become very cold here now hun, with snowfall in Sheffield! We promise we’ll wrap you up straight from the plane with all of Britain’s wools when you’re back. I saw your family and cats, they are all well. Harry, however, was very anti-social in that he was asleep most of the time during my visit!
I hope you received my anniversary card by last Saturday, I painted it myself with my extraordinary talents (haha). I hope you appreciated the thought and charm rather than its quality. Happy anniversary hun.x.
I have sent you one last letter so I hope you receive that soon.
I hope to hear from you soon gorgeous. Come home soon safe and sound and get in touch when you can. Please take care of yourself, be strong and stay safe. I am very proud of you for everything you’ve done, especially the conga.
Miss you lots and love you lots hun.
All my love,
Gaz xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Aimee Welch - Echo Three
ReplyDeleteDear Aimee
More digging - you will be superfit when you get back!! Always good to see you in a photo. Are you tanned? I couldn't tell from the picture.
Pippa had a good birthday I think. We went round to the Italian for supper, Tess and Guy came too. Guess who did most of the talking? Her friends threw a surprise party on Saturday night, complete with birthday cake. Next birthday is yours of course.....
Hope you've been taking lots of photos and keeping your travel diary, otherwise you might forget all of the stories we'll want to hear in January. Not a lot of news from here. So far we've been lucky and the heavy snow hasn't reached us yet, but I have bought some 'Yaktrak' snow grips my shoes, should it arrive. Remember how pathetic I was walking in the ice and snow last year? Should be better this time. Both Aunty Wend and I already deep in our 'Grumpy Old Women' gripes about the possible snow!!
Poppy is enjoying the cold weather and rolling in the frosty grass. Ginger is even less inclined to move than usual, I don't think she's been outside for 2 or 3 days....
Make sure you let us know your travel plans post Raleigh, so we have some idea where you are!
Has the parcel arrived safely? The on-line tracker just said it had arrived in India.
Lots of love from everyone xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
PS Pippa and I thought we should have a Harry Potter week-end when you get back, complete with costumes for Poppy and Ginger! Any more leech bites? Fingers crossed they've left you alone.
To Sarah Ward,
ReplyDeleteHave an amazing time on the next phase, hope you got my letter in time. Not much to report from home other than it's bloody freezing. Thinking of you, lots of love, Faye xxxxx
Message for Katharine Studley, Charlie Two
ReplyDeleteHi Kate
Thanks for your email - it was lovely to hear from you.I'm sure you'll have another amazing time on the community phase, can't believe that you are on the last phase already. We're all so proud of you and all that you are achieving out there.
I'm posting a letter to you today, as is Mike. Hope that they reach you before the end of the placement. Don't forget to put your warmest clothes in the daysack for your return journey. Winter has arrived in the UK and you'll really feel the contrast when the plane lands.
I'm beginning the Christmas preparations, fridge cake, stuffing and all that, while Mike is slipping seemlessly into the grumbling mode that will last until Christmas Eve when, as is his time honoured tradition, he will re-discover the Christmas spirit!
Keep up the good work and keep drawing.
With lots of love, Mumxxx
To George Miller, Tango 6
ReplyDeleteHi Georgey,
I hope you're having an amazing time out there! I finallyyy got your letters (took the mail system long enough), but it was a great thing to come back to school to. It sounds like (and looks like) you're doing amazing things and having a great time. I'm totally jealous. I had a nice word sesh with Peter and Patinkin last night. We missed you and had a nice chat about next semester! We cannot wait for you to be back! I've been emailing you, but I figured that I would post on here so that you can actually get it while you are out there. I can't wait until you head to Australia and can start skyping again. I've missed that face! Miss you Miss you Miss you!!!! Can't even wait to see you!
Love,
Shay

ReplyDeleteHope you are enjoying Phase 3 and are learning how to mix cement and build walls for those new loos! Thanks for your email. We're looking forward to having you back in time for Christmas. Pudding and cake already made. So cold here that the pond in Combe is frozen over and we're looking forward to ice skating on it in a couple of weeks time. Dad back from Oz and now we're off to Rome for a long weekend. Gma will be out of hospital very soon and convalescing near her home. Hope you got the parcel with the sweatshirt OK. xx and lots of love Mum and Dad

ReplyDeleteHey Gan!
This all looks amazing, I hope you are having the best time! I am pretty sure you are, and the henna foot looks awesome - bit weird that I recognised your foot! Ha.
Miss you still, I had a dream that I bumped into you at Heathrow last night! Very strange! And looking forward to our February reunion very much, it'll be awesome! I've got Calv coming on Friday for the Christmas Markets - I will have a Bratwurst for you! Chuffing freezing here though, you're going to have get a portable fan heater or something when you get back...! It snowed at the weekend and is going to again tonight - I'll try not to fall on my bum while carrying a Subway this year! Hahah. Uni is massively snowy as it's up that horrible hill - let's pray for closure?! MA is all good though, I keep thinking I've forgotten some work, but no, just not got a lot! Hurrah. Got 53% on a French translation though...was NOT pleased by that! Oh well!
I apologise for a lack of English culture updates...I feel that you've not been on Facebook anyhow?! It's the semi-finals of Strictly and X Factor next week, and Wagner went last night - hurrah! Btw Ann and Anton are still in it, and when you are next by a computer you must look up their Titanic parody. Yes, Titanic. So funny!
Well I hope the trek is not too tiring, enjoy your last part of Raleigh before travelling! And hopefully I'll hear from you when you're out on your own!
Lots of love, Prong! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
