It was a little over a week ago that we welcomed the Northumberland bespoke team to India and after an induction at our project partner's headquarters, MYKAPS, the 14 member team headed to Telugu Masahali.

The team settle into their new home
|
This is the third time a Raleigh team have visited this delightful village who welcomed them with open arms. The 10 toilets that the group will construct will add to the stock already built and help the community achieve its goal of providing safe sanitation for all members.

Playing with the local kids
|
Northumberland or November 1 (their radio call sign) have set up home in the local school and are spending plenty of time playing endless games of ring-a-rosy and cat and mouse (or elephant and sheep according to the local version).
They are literally storming through their work and have completed the plastering on 6 of the 10 units. They will now begin to paint the loos and bring their own artistic touches with big plans for murals.
The group have just a few days more with big plans for a whole community cricket match before their opening ceremony and then they are off on their three day trek. We shall keep you posted on their progress.

Hi Daniel Cabral (in The NEW Charlie One group)! How are things going? You look well! Guess you're now in the community phase now- building a school. I'm sure that your construction experience is serving you well. It really sounds like you are all doing so well. It's especially touching to hear of how you are all doing your best to interact with the community, in particular, the children. This experience is life changing for all of you, and when you go the extra mile, just like you are all doing, you get back even more than you could ever imagine. Good on all of you. On another note, Arianna saw a big boat on T.V. yesterday, and she said that we were all going to go on that boat (wouldn't that be nice!)... mommy, daddy, Arianna, Daniel, Vavo Julie, Vavo Carlos.... So she's still talking about you. She's going to go crazy when you get back.
ReplyDeleteWell lots of love from us all. Take good care of yourself.
Love, Veronica
