Echo 5 are here at field base after spending last night in the survival camp in bashers (a bit like hammocks) luckily the rain didn’t put them off sleeping under the stars and they cooked themselves up a storm. Today they’ll be painting a mural to decorate field base in Mysore and trying to clock up the points with some team games.
The groups are completing a circuit of activities and today sees Charlie 1 rafting at Lakeside in the sunshine, Charlie 2 are on the first day of their trek, hot on the heels of Charlie 3 who are on their second day. Charlie 4 are enjoying a leisurely bike ride of 72km and Echo 6 are kayaking across the lake to Lakeside camp where they will camp tonight.
Some of the field base team have been out and about watching the rafting (a very impressive 38 minutes from Echo 5 is the best so far), cycling and kayaking. All the groups are having a whale of a time in the monsoon rain and are definitely looking forward to cold bucket showers when they get back to field base (Lower Camp) on Monday.

Hi Rose
ReplyDeleteHope you are surviving the adventure challenges - they sound great and no doubt you are having a good laugh!! Sounds like you are kayaking today - hope you stay upright! We are having a bit of monsoon weather here as well - perhaps not so bad as you but it is definitely colder now. Cant wait till Thursday to hear all about it and see all your pics. Much love Ma and Pa xxxxx
Hi Will and Echo 6
ReplyDeleteHope your eggs aren't about to hatch having been buried in warm earth and that you get them to base camp in one piece. Well done for the lateral thinking.
Cornwall is having its own monsoon season but for us the rains are cold whilst John and co. are having a mini heat wave. The ashes are uninterupted so far and as I write Flintoff is smashing them around. England are 370 in front after a heartening collapse by the Ausies yesterday.......
We had a good time in Salcombe and met Alice who is much better now and was full of smiles. They all send their love and grandad Jack has made you some lovely new canoe paddles for your birthday.Dont forget that you have a card from us somewhere in your rucksack.
Your travelling on plans gound great - we look forward to more news
Much love
Mum XXXX
Hi Emily(echo6),just been looking at the photos of the rafting--we think that because of all the time you have been wet you have probably developed web feet by now so Go Echo6 and get the points for the challenge--your feet should give you the edge!!Ha Ha!!
ReplyDeleteThomas got back from cambodia yesterday, went straight down to Penzance and straight off this morning on his charity cycle to John o Groats.Phew, you two are doing so much it makes the rest of us tired!Thomas is hoping to get lots of sponsor cash for his charity.

Well Em,your time in India is nearly over.We can hardly believe it.What are we going to do when we have'nt the blog to follow??We will now be really interested in all the Raleigh activities. We have caught the bug!Perhaps another grandchild could apply for one of the community projects so we could follow them.what a pity Raleigh cant take two oldies to help!! Hi Marie,
ReplyDeleteLoved the group photo of you at lower camp in Kerala and on the raft - you look happy and like you are having fun!
Good luck with the remaining challenges and to the rest of the Charlie 2 team - go for it girl!
Only a few more days and we will see you. Presume you are still coming back on the 27th or have you been tempted to travel on with your new friends?
Had a great day at Brandshatch with Dad and Glyn and Charlotte (from Exeter). Richard (Kendle) came along to support Dad, and in the evening we all went out for a meal with Cheryl, Harry and Joyce.
Can't wait to see you on Thursday. Take lots of photos.
Loads of love and hugs Mum xxxxx
Hi Will,
ReplyDeleteIt's been a day of making chutney and listening to the Ashes here. No doubt you have already heard that England won. Having set Australia 546 to win in just over two days a win was on the cards, but it was still tense for a while, particularly while Ponting was going well. Spurs won away at West Ham and are unbeaten in three!!!
No doubt you can hardly believe that Raleigh is nearing its end. It sounds like it has been a great experience. We hope the next part will be equally good.
All the best,
Dad
Cat Nurse
ReplyDeleteGreat to speak to you. Looking forward to massaging all those aches and pains away soon.
You're so damn beautiful....
