No one ever said it was going to be easy. Building sanitation facilities for rural village where water is hand pumped and electricity fluctuates like today’s market. But who said things worth while were easy? The boys from Henry Compton certainly felt the strain as they helped to build 16 units for Rural Telegu Massahalli, and what an achievement!
After six days of intense heat, adverse living conditions with limited if any Western luxuries the team were able to celebrate with the whole village and cut the ribbons of all 16 units. Project managers Sean Atkins and Ben Cocks never stopped at securing a safe and successful project, working around the clock to support and facilitate the boys, while teachers Stephen Powell and Andrew and Olwen Ross were always on hand to offer support to the PM’s.
And if that wasn’t enough, the group ended their whirlwind trip with a foot safari in Karnataka prime Bandipur National Park, once Mysore’s maharajas private wildlife reserves and home to over 5000 Asiatic Elephants.
From all at Raleigh H.Q in Mysore, a huge congratulations to all in Alpha 4.
Hi
ReplyDeleteAll back home now. The guest house in Bandipur National Park was a sight for sore eyes after our trek through the forest - it had proper beds!! That, topped with naughty elephants coming up on the veranda and a candlelit dinner made for a fantastic time.
