Christmas has engulfed Field base in celebration of the Venturers and PMs return this morning. With tinsel everywhere and the Christmas tunes blaring out, we were so excited to welcome them all back from their final phase.
It's a bitter sweet time though, as although we're all so excited to see everyone and catch up with their news, it's all tinged with the sad reality that the Raleigh 10K expedition is coming to a close. But not before we celebrate and party in style!
It's final skit night tonight where each group will entertain, amuse and most likely sing a theatrical account of their phase. Then tomorrow we're up at dawn for the Fun Run before a day of wash-up and reviews topped off with the big leaving party complete with Golden Ganesh Awards.
I'll be inviting some Guest Blogs from the PMs over the next few days to summarise their final phase and describe their achievements.
Thanks also to everyone who's sponsored the Fun Run, over £700 has been raised so far! All the money will go towards Raleigh projects in India like the ones the 10K expedition have been working on. If you'd like to sponsor someone please visit http://www.justgiving.com/Raleigh-India-Fun-Run
Merry Christmas One and all!

ReplyDeleteFor Jennifer Rimmer:
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Honey! I love it when your age is one above mine again! It's just turned midnight here, so I'm guessing the morning is just beginning for you. Hope my final parcel has arrived by now. We're all missing you here very much and can't wait to have you home again. Any news on your return home yet?
It started snowing again here today and right on cue Emma started complaining. Sadly it didn't stick 9the snow that is, Emma's complaints of course endured), but the temperatures have dropped drastically to approx. minus 4 here at the moment so I'm hoping.
We had your birthday/homecoming do all booked for 22nd December (before your plans changed of course) but decided to go ahead anyway. We're having "Carols by Candlelight" in our garden here, so we'll be thinking of you (your Mum and Danielle are due to join us still). There is of course LOADS to catch up on. I know you're finding it difficult to get in touch, but if you can in some way, we know your days with Raleigh are few now. I'm back in the hospital at the crack of dawn, so I'll leave it there for now, but I'll email to your gmail as soon as I can in the hope you can access at some point.
Sending all love as ever.
Your Friend,
