Phase three under construction

G'day avid blog followers. The final phase is upon us for Raleigh India 09C and the Venturers are out meeting their new Alpha groups with whom they will spend the next three weeks.

Just a bit of housekeeping:

Until now, Alpha 3 has been the Kappikadu housing community project. The homes the Raleigh Venturers built were opened on Friday with a ceremony in the village attended by our project partners, the Centre for Tribal and Rural Development, and Raleigh India representatives.

This phase, Alpha 3 will be an environmental phase involving construction of an anti-poaching camp in Bandipur National Park.

Now I have Venturers standing over my shoulder reading this keen to order the Raleigh India t-shirt (check out the logo below) so I'd better hurry up or I'll be in trouble.

More pictures and news on Monday!

  4. Hey Holly G'Lolly! (Alpha 2)

Got your request via Jess but you probably didn't have time to pick up the rude message I left on your phone! Will do my best to meet your demands but don't blame me if I get it completely wrong! I thought you had it all covered before you left, so to speak!

You must be in your element on this particular project - your family has lots of experience in this department, especially Dad! Looking forward with anticipation to reading your blog report - I promise I'll try not to laugh!

Don't forget it's Dad's birthday this Thursday so I think it's only fair you write him an equally embarrassing message!

    Lots of love as always,

    Mum xxx

  5. Hi Rebecca,

Great to speak to you yesterday and to come home to your long newsy letter! Fantastic. Have just spkne with Matthew and you can't come home from Delhi without buying a new ticket which is not feasible so you will have to return from Bangalore on June 3rd but there are very cheap internal flights from Delhi to Bangalore and I can give you details. I will try and get the info out to you before you finish. Have spoken with Sophia's parents and she will be doing the same thing. Also, your tax refund has come through. Yipee! Will get longer letter to you shortly. Lots of love from us all,

    Mummuyxx

  9. To Willz,

Sorry I haven't messaged earlier, hopefully this will make up for it!

I see you're on the trekking phase now, should be awesome! How long/where you got to go? I got your postcard the other week, seems you're having a laugh and a half in India, to be honest I expect nothing less. Hopefully you've taken loads of photos to show, I've seen a few here with you in them, including that one where you're sitting cross-legged eating something, looking pretty ecstatic :P Just wanted to ask, is Ben Brophy one of the project leaders with you? He was with us for Costa Rica, and said he'd do this....

Spent the weekend with Mum and G+G down in T. Wells, was quite cool actually, had some nice homecooked food, and just relaxed a bit after last week. Had 2 exams and an essay to finish in that week, so got a bit tight! Now, while you're still galavanting around the place, I've got to knuckle down for some hardcore revision......joy.

Anyways, hope all is going well, message me when you're back in dear ol' HK, write a long email explaining everything you did! I'm so excited! I don't know why.....I guess I'm pretty happy you're getting to do all this :)

    From your older bro,

Dag schat!!
