All Teams Back at Fieldbase For Final R&R

Just to let you know that everyone has arrived safely back at Fieldbase.

Echo Three even told me that the Gandathur villagers came round to their campsite at 6.30 this morning and served them chai before they set off!

I took these pictures as each team arrived back this morning.

Echo Three - Alex choosing to adopt a low profile
Tango Six - Carrot inevitably dressed in orange
Charlie Two - still raving about Uluvadu
Tango Five - distinctly alive

So, having almost completed their expedition, how do your loved ones look? Happy, certainly. But more mature? Hardened? Wiser? Or just dirtier?

They’re off into Mysore for a few hours, for which Domino’s will doubtless be duly grateful! Then back for a final two days' relaxation and merriment. Tomorrow evening sees the Golden Mess Tin Awards ceremony, described recently by Simon as ‘like the Oscars, only bigger.’

More on that anon …

Hi there Anna, you must be back! Glad to hear that the work was finished at Echo 3. The beneficiaries must be really grateful.
Guess what - Pillars of the Earth starts on TV tonight! And Australia won the final of the Men's Champions Trophy today - they beat the Dutch 2-1 in extra time - it was a great game. Pakistan beat India for the bronze medal.
Not long to go now but I bet you have lots of finishing up to do to finalise the Logs.
Enjoy the Golden Mess Tin Awards Ceremony - sounds as if it should be televised to the world!!!
    Lots of love,
    Mum

  2. So Jocelyn we read Fabian's cool report of your trek ending with the chance encounter with an elephant. Certainly an endorsement from the Gods for a journey of awakening, discovery and camaraderie. No mountain will ever seem too high, no river to deep, no road too long. You all made it. From now on life is all about sunrise, never sunset; there's always another mile, another day, another challenge; and boy are you all up for it. Well done! We enjoyed the champagne at least and may have left the smallest of sips for you :)
We await your pit stop with great anticipation.

  7. To Kanahaya Alam/12J - Tango five

    Hawaw Kinoy,
Glad to see you all together at the field base again.
    Time flies so fast eh...

What do you want me to bring when you arrive ? Any special order ? Not paratta and chicken tikka masala, I guess.... ;-)

We are so proud of your achievements while away in India. You are going to be so fit and healthy.

That is why when we all go up to see Andrew's friends and family over Christmas, we are so looking forward to introducing you to the Cleveland Way walk - a mere 105 miles - and also to the North Yorkshire moors - otherwise known as the Himalayas of Yorkshire!!

Kana, we are sure you will look back on this trip as one - but not only one - of the achievements that you will go on to do in the rest of your life.

Safe trip back to the UK and can't wait to see you again..!

Lots of love, hugs, and kisses,
    Mum and Andrew xxx
