BD Munti Inauguration Ceremony!

This afternoon Julia and myself, Christina attended the inauguration ceremony at BD Munti, marking the groups completion of all 14 eco-sanitation toilets that they have, rather amazingly, built for the community over the past 11 days.

We arrived at the school where the group had been staying to find everyone dressed up - a few of the locals had been along before the ceremony with outfits for all!

Everyone was presented with a beautiful flower garland as a Thank You from the community for all of their hard work. After a few speeches from the group, MYKAPS; our project partner, teachers, masons and a few of the locals, the group took us to see one of their toilets - even giving us a quick example of how one is used!

It is fantastic how much the group have been able to do in such a small amount of time. The group have quite obviously got on really well together and made the most of their time at BD Munti.
They are now heading to the Wayanad District to do 4 days of trekking!

Here are a few quick messages from some of the group!

  5. To Sian Hughes, BD Munti/Malmesbury,

To Sian (its katy) the photos look amazing, I particularly like the one of you with a stupid look on your face crouching over a toilet...classy girl, must run in the family. I think you must have done the hard work now, WELL DONE!!!

Your rents are down here now and as usual the most of the conversation is in the gutter and your dad is continuously making sick jokes. Its raining though so I don't blame you for choosing India over Cornwall.

Have an amazing birthday, wish you were here (or I was there come to think of it). See you soon cuz

LOVE KATY (HUGHES, YOUR COUSIN) XXXXXXXX

And things went a bit crazy for me the day after so i forgot i even had a birthday. But will tell you the crazy stuff when you get home. Be hard when you get back because talking over the phone about a trip like this will be hard will just want to see you. We got your letter day before my birthday that was so lovely it was like a birthday treat from you. Ste came down the day before we all went for a meal all read your letter together we all laughed at things you said all were saying how much we miss you. But for me was great your letter was the main part of all are day. My birthday was strange without you mum made me a birthday card and stuck a picture of you in it so i could look at it at any point that day when i missed you she signed the card from you and her so that was the best part of my day. I went out saturday to knutsford with jamie to this lovely qwirkey cafe you would have loved it we went round little books shops but..... it rained all day i mean rained! bless him he had a walk planned and anywhere he had planned to take me we couldn't because it wouldn't stop raining lol.
